Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja on Wednesday, October 25, named the members of the county executive committee, who are set to form his cabinet.
Speaking during a presser at City Hall, Sakaja named a 10-member cabinet including Charles Kerich, who served in Mike Sonko's administration to the powerful Finance docket.
The former Senator also picked ODM aspirant for Westlands constituency Michael Gumo.
A son of former Cabinet Minister Fred Gumo, Michael will lead the Innovation and Digital Economy docket. Sakaja also appointed Suzanne Silantoi to head the Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service ministry.
Silantoi contested against Sakaja in the 2017 Nairobi county senatorial race.
"This team has been very carefully selected to meet the challenge and responsibility that lies before them, They shall be held accountable to the people of Nairobi," Sakaja announced.
The county chief also appointed advisors to his cabinet. Among them is Professor Washington Yotto Achieng - a renowned professor whose strides in the transport sector have been acknowledged worldwide.
"He is the one who has sorted out mobility in London and Beijing and is a resource we would rely on as an outside eye looking in for us to sort out matters of mobility and transport," Sakaja explained.
In addition, he appointed David Njoroge as his Chief of Staff and Priscillah Mahinda as Private Secretary. Dr Jairus Musumba was nominated for the position of County Secretary.
The first-time governor noted that he changed the names and mandates of the dockets for better service delivery.
He explained that the Boroughs, Administration and Personnel and the Business as well as the Hutsler Opportunities CECs will report directly to his deputy, Njoroge Muchiri.
